Review
This is official description
Vocaboly is a vocabulary builder for SAT, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT and general vocabulary. The program contains five books: SAT, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT and VOA Special English; with more than 12,000 words, each word is provided with meaning, phonetic symbol and pronunciation. Many words also have sample sentences to illustrate their usage. Each book contains eight flash cards to group important words. Each word can be assigned to a difficulty level from 0 to 5, which makes the vocabulary learning very efficient.
The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.1
Vocaboly is a comprehensive package of tools especially designed to help us learn English vocabulary in an effective way. This multi-user application is highly recommended for those people who want to prepare their GMA, GRE, SAT admission tests or TOEFL examination test. This program is suitable for native and international students alike, or anyone interested in expanding his/her vocabulary. The learning project is divided into five books: VOA Special English, GMA, GRE, SAT and TOEFL, which can be individually accessed at any time. After selecting a book, we can start learning and practicing several types of exercises (listening comprehension, multi-choice) and word games (Memory, Star War). The tests are corrected and scored, and can be exported to HTML. It is possible to jump freely from one section/book to another. We can customize our learning project (study the whole book, section and card). Currently, we can also download two additional books (Football Vocabulary and Barron's Plus) from the developer's site for free and import them to Vocaboly. We are allowed to create our own books. Vocaboly is Windows Vista compatible. It has been enhanced, and now, we can easily access recall/quit recall utility. We can evaluate this product free of charge. The trial version contains a robotic voice, while the registered one displays a natural human voice with a North American accent. This program runs under Windows Vista , XP, 2000, ME, and 98 operating systems. |
